The Perforators are a group of Pre-Hardmode bosses fought in The Crimson. They are the Crimson counterpart to The Hive Mind.

Spawn

The Perforators do not spawn on their own, and require the player to summon them by using a Bloody Worm Food or by killing a Perforator Cyst in The Crimson.

The Perforator Hive cycles through the following attacks consecutively:

Diagonal Charge

  • The Perforator Hive moves diagonally above the player and sucks in blood particles from the ground.
  • It then charges towards the player, shooting a radial spread of 5 Ichor Spits and releasing a spread of 8 Ichor Spits into the air.
  • This attack is repeated thrice before the Perforator Hive cycles to the next attack.

Crimera Spawn

  • The Perforator Hive hovers above the player, preparing for a horizontal charge.
  • The Perforator Hive dashes, releasing a Crimera.
    • The Perforator Hive will not release a Crimera if there are 3 or more of them active.

Ichor Blasts

  • The Perforator Hive hovers horizontally to the player at a fixed distance and fires a set of 3 Ichor Blobs at them.
  • There are 9 sets of 3 Ichor Blobs fired before the Perforator Hive moves on to the next attack.

Ichor Spin

  • The Perforator Hive spins around the player, firing Ichor Blobs outward.
  • It then charges at the player, spitting 8 Ichor Blobs directly at them.
    • The Ichor Blobs will not deal damage to the player for a temporary period of time to avoid cheap shots.

The Perforator Hive hovers above the player and releases the Small Perforator worm. The Perforator Hive is invulnerable as long as the worm is alive. Both the hive and the worm perform their attacks simultaneously.

Horizontal Charges (Perforator Hive Behavior)

  • The Perforator Hive attempts to get on level with the player and charges horizontally at them.

Vertical Charges (Small Perforator Behavior)

  • The Small Perforator moves directly below the player and charges upwards at them.
  • Once it is at the peak of its charge, it releases 12 evenly spaced drops of Falling Ichor.

After the Small Perforator is defeated, the Perforator Hive summons 2 Crimera Walls to close in on the player. It performs all its attacks faster.

The Perforator Hive cycles through the following attacks consecutively:

Crimera Wall

  • The Perforator Hive hovers above the player and roars.
  • It summons 2 horizontal walls of Crimeras which close in on the player.
    • When this attack is performed immediately after a Perforator worm has been defeated, the openings between the Crimeras will be marginally tighter.

Ichor Blasts

  • The Perforator Hive hovers horizontally to the player at a fixed distance and fires a set of 3 Ichor Blobs at them.
  • There are 9 sets of 3 Ichor Blobs fired before the Perforator Hive moves on to the next attack.

Ichor Spin

  • The Perforator Hive spins around the player, firing Ichor Blobs outward.
  • It then charges at the player, spitting 8 Ichor Blobs directly at them.
    • The Ichor Blobs will not deal damage to the player for a temporary period of time to avoid cheap shots.

The Perforator Hive hovers above the player and releases the Medium Perforator worm. The Medium Perforator is a continuous worm, all of whose segments share a single health pool. The Perforator Hive is invulnerable as long as the worm is alive. Both the hive and the worm perform their attacks simultaneously.

Diagonal Ichor (Perforator Hive Behavior)

  • The Perforator Hive hovers diagonally above the player and spits a spread of 3 Flying Ichor shots at them.
  • It alternates sides above the player every 5 seconds.

Tooth Ball Spits (Medium Perforator Behavior)

  • The Medium Perforator attempts to move towards the player continuously.
  • It occasionally releases Tooth Balls which explode into 6 Ichor Spits after 2.5 seconds.

After the Medium Perforator is defeated, the Perforator Hive summons 2 Crimera Walls to close in on the player. It performs all its attacks even faster and can now rain Ichor Blobs down upon the player.

The Perforator Hive cycles through the following attacks consecutively:

Crimera Wall

  • The Perforator Hive hovers above the player and roars.
  • It summons 2 horizontal walls of Crimeras which close in on the player.
    • When this attack is performed immediately after a Perforator worm has been defeated, the openings between the Crimeras will be marginally tighter.

Ichor Rain

  • The Perforator Hive hovers above the player and charges horizontally.
  • It releases a large canopy of Ichor Blobs upwards which fall to the ground.

Ichor Spin

  • The Perforator Hive spins around the player, firing Ichor Blobs outward.
  • It then charges at the player, spitting 8 Ichor Blobs directly at them.
    • The Ichor Blobs will not deal damage to the player for a temporary period of time to avoid cheap shots.

Diagonal Charge

  • The Perforator Hive moves diagonally above the player and sucks in blood particles from the ground.
  • It then charges towards the player, shooting a radial spread of 5 Ichor Spits and releasing a spread of 10 Ichor Spits into the air.
  • This attack is repeated thrice before the Perforator Hive cycles to the next attack.

Ichor Dash (Perforator Hive Behavior)

  • The Perforator Hive hovers vertically above the player and charges downwards.
  • It releases a falling spread of 3 Ichor Blobs upwards every time it dashes.

Flying Charge (Large Perforator Behavior)

  • The Large Perforator attempts to move towards the player continuously.
  • It occasionally dashes at the player if they are close enough.

After the Large Perforator is defeated, the Perforator Hive roars, turning the screen a deep red, and summons 2 Crimera Walls to close in on the player. It goes into a frenzied state, performing all its attacks much faster and gaining the ability to vomit out an Ichor Fountain.

The Perforator Hive cycles through the following attacks consecutively:

Crimera Wall

  • The Perforator Hive hovers above the player and roars.
  • It summons 2 horizontal walls of Crimeras which close in on the player.
    • When this attack is performed immediately after a Perforator worm has been defeated, the openings between the Crimeras will be marginally tighter.

Ichor Rain

  • The Perforator Hive hovers above the player and charges horizontally.
  • It releases a large canopy of Ichor Blobs upwards which fall to the ground.

Ichor Spin

  • The Perforator Hive spins around the player, firing Ichor Blobs outward.
  • It then charges at the player, spitting 11 Ichor Blobs directly at them.
    • The Ichor Blobs will not deal damage to the player for a temporary period of time to avoid cheap shots.

Ichor Fountain

  • The Perforator Hive moves directly above the player roars, releasing a shockwave, and vomits out a continuous stream of Ichor Blobs from the mouths on its sides.
  • It summons walls of Ichor Shots to charge into the player.
  • The Perforator Hive summons 5 walls before moving on to the next attack.
