Duke Fishron is a boss which can be fought at any point of the game, but is intended to be fought post-Golem. While not required for progression, defeating Duke Fishron provides the player with money and useful items.

Spawn

Duke Fishron can be summoned by fishing in the Ocean with a Truffle Worm as bait, or by using a Truffle Worm Platter in the Ocean.

When summoned, Duke Fishron moves slightly upward and then roars before beginning to attack.

In his first phase, Duke Fishron possesses the following attacks:

Charge

  • Duke Fishron moves quickly toward a position diagonally above the player for 0.37 seconds, then charges at them.

Bubble Spit

  • Duke Fishron hovers very slowly near the player and rapidly spits Bubbles at them.
  • Bubbles chase the player aggressively for 3 seconds, then come to a stop, expand briefly, and pop. They die immediately if they hit a solid tile or liquid.

Bubble Charge

  • Duke Fishron accelerates to a position diagonally above the player, then does a short horizontal charge once it reaches position. It rapidly spits Bubbles and decelerates while charging.
  • Bubbles chase the player aggressively for 3 seconds, then come to a stop, expand briefly, and pop. They burst immediately if they hit a solid tile or liquid.

Tornadoes and Sharkrons

  • Duke Fishron comes to a stop and idles for 1 second, then roars.
  • Two large Tornadoes appear at the player's sides and move slowly inward, and light blue vertical line telegraphs appear in an outward wave starting from below the player. After 0.5 seconds, the lines disappear and Sharkrons fire along them from below.
    • Tornadoes and Sharkron telegraph lines are summoned on the surface of the nearest water body. Tornadoes can also appear on the surface of the nearest tile or platform.
    • Sharkrons become affected by gravity and can collide with tiles after 1.5 seconds. They die when striking a solid tile, or automatically after 10 seconds.

The first phase cycles through the following attacks in order:

  • Charge x3
  • Bubble Spit
  • Tornadoes and Sharkrons

Duke Fishron enters his second phase at 70% (70,175) health, at which point it comes to a stop for a moment and then roars, gaining glowing eyes. In this phase, Charge is slightly shorter, and Duke Fishron gains two new attacks:

Bubble Spin

  • Duke Fishron moves toward a position diagonally above the player for 2 seconds, then does a very long horizontal charge interrupted by two near-complete loop-de-loops. It rapidly spits Bubbles while charging.
    • The second loop always turns in the same direction as the first.
  • Bubbles chase the player aggressively for 3 seconds, then come to a stop, expand briefly, and pop. They die immediately if they hit a solid tile or liquid.

Tidal Wave

  • Duke Fishron moves slowly toward the player for 0.75 seconds, then does a long and slow charge toward them.
    • It can only perform this charge downward and will charge at an equivalent downward angle if the player is above him.
  • Duke's charge ends after 1.75 seconds, or immediately if it strikes a liquid or solid tile. If his charge ends at least 23.4 tiles away from the player, it fires two massive Tidal Waves to his sides that expand horizontally as they travel.

Duke Fishron enters his third phase at 40% (40,100) health, at which point it comes to a stop for a moment and then roars, gaining a dark tint and turning the sky dark blue. In this phase, Charge is slightly shorter and faster, Bubble Spit fires slightly more bubbles that travel slightly faster, and Bubble Spin travels slightly faster. Duke Fishron can also teleport before a Charge sequence and fire splitting Typhoons with each Charge.

Additionally, the third phase features a new attack pool:

Razorblade Razorstorm

  • Duke Fishron quickly moves far above the player, then summons two stationary, extremely tall Tornadoes to their sides after 1 second. It does a slow, very long downward charge 0.75 seconds after summoning Tornadoes, firing four rings of five very slow Typhoon Blades along the way.
  • Typhoon Blades chase the player weakly after 1.5 seconds, then fade away after 4.5 seconds total.
  • When Duke Fishron finishes charging downward, it teleports below the player, then charges upward after 0.3 seconds. This upward charge occurs four times in a row.
  • The stationary Tornadoes fade away when the attack ends.

Charge

  • Duke Fishron moves quickly toward a position diagonally above the player for 0.37 seconds, then charges at them and fires a Typhoon backward. The Typhoon decelerates and lingers for 1.5 seconds, then splits into a cross of four Waves.
  • Every time Duke Fishron reaches the first in a sequence of Charges, it teleports to the opposite side of the player and waits 0.7 seconds before charging.

Bubble Spit

  • Duke Fishron hovers very slowly near the player and rapidly spits Bubbles at them.
  • Bubbles chase the player aggressively for 3 seconds, then come to a stop, expand briefly, and pop. They die immediately if they hit a solid tile or liquid.

Tornadoes and Sharkrons

  • Duke Fishron comes to a stop and idles for 1 second, then roars.

Duke Fishron enters his fourth phase at 20% (20,100) health. In this phase, Charge is even shorter and faster, Bubble Spin travels even faster, Tidal Wave occurs and travels faster and fires Tidal Waves at a higher velocity, and Razorblade Razorstorm's downward charge travels faster and fires more Typhoon Blades at a faster rate.

Additionally, the fourth phase features another new attack pool:

Razorblade Razorstorm

  • Duke Fishron quickly moves far above the player, then summons two stationary, extremely tall Tornadoes to their sides after 1 second. It does a slow, very long downward charge 0.75 seconds after summoning Tornadoes, firing four rings of seven very slow Typhoon Blades along the way.

Bubble Spin

  • Duke Fishron moves toward a position diagonally above the player for 2 seconds, then does a very long horizontal charge interrupted by two near-complete loop-de-loops. It rapidly spits Bubbles while charging.

  • Bubbles chase the player aggressively for 3 seconds, then come to a stop, expand briefly, and pop. They die immediately if they hit a solid tile or liquid.

Tidal Wave

  • Duke Fishron moves slowly toward the player for 0.53 seconds, then does a long and slow charge toward them.

Charge

The fourth phase cycles through the following attacks in order:

  • Charge x9
  • Tidal Wave
  • Bubble Spin
  • Charge x9
  • Razorblade Razorstorm
  • Bubble Spin
