Astrum Aureus is a Hardmode boss. Defeating it causes an additional Astral Infection meteor to fall somewhere in the world, and adds several new item drops to Astral Infection enemies as well as increasing their stats.

Spawn

Astrum Aureus does not spawn on its own, and requires the player to summon it with an Astral Chunk in the Astral Infection biome at night.

Laser Spread

• Astrum Aureus locks on to the player, firing sets of 16 flares each with varied openings.
  • The boss will maintain a steady pace during this attack while staying at a fixed distance.
  • It deals no contact damage during this attack.

Leap

• Astrum Aureus lines up above the player, then stomps down, creating a shockwave alongside a spread of flares.

Radial Laser Burst

• Astrum Aureus charges at the player similarly to the Laser Spread while firing omnidirectional waves of 25 lasers each.

Rocket Barrage

• Astrum Aureus slows down and rapidly fires off a multitude of telegraphed homing rockets.
  • The number of rockets fired is increased depending on how far the player is from the boss.

Converging Drill Beam

• Astrum Aureus slows down and prepares to fire two converging orange and blue beams which travel upwards. Additionally, it fires out waves of 20 flares each in tandem.

• Astrum Aureus locks on to the player, firing sets of 16 flares each with varied openings.
  • The boss will maintain a steady pace during this attack while staying at a fixed distance.
  • It deals no contact damage during this attack.

• Astrum Aureus lines up above the player, then stomps down, creating a shockwave alongside a spread of flares.
• It also releases 8 homing rockets on impact with the ground.

Aftermath

• Another Astral Meteor will crash into the world (under the right conditions),
• The Drunk Princess will begin selling Everclear, the Star Beam Rye at night, and the Bloody Mary during a Blood Moon.
• A status message appears which reads "A faint ethereal click can be heard from the dungeon.", indicating that the Astral Chest has unlocked.
• A status message appears which reads "The astral enemies have been empowered!", indicating that several Astral Infection enemies are now stronger and drop unique items.
• Astral Crates will contain Aureus Cells, Astral Injections, Gravity Normalizer Potions, and several items dropped by Astral Infection enemies.
