Golem is a Hardmode boss fought in the Jungle Temple. Defeating it unlocks an array of content, including the ability to mine Scoria Ore, the final tier of the Old One's Army and thus Betsy, and the onset of the Plague.

Spawn

Golem is summoned by using a Lihzahrd Power Cell at a Lihzahrd Altar, or by using an Old Power Cell anywhere in the Jungle Temple. If spawned within the Jungle Temple, all blocks within a square arena made around the Golem will be instantly destroyed. If not spawned within the Jungle Temple, it will create a temporary arena of Lihzahrd Bricks around itself and also become enraged for the duration of the fight.

Upon being spawned, the screen will dim to black. After a moment, a pair of red eyes will flash in the darkness as the boss appears above the Lihzahrd Altar.

Behavior

The Golem's eyes will flash a characteristic color when an attack is about to be performed. Additionally, Golem never repeats the same attack from the previous two instances.

Trivia

  • The sound played when Golem's eyes flash during its spawn animation is sampled from the game Deltarune.
  • Golem's title card has a 1/500 (0.2%) chance to read "NUMBER * SALSMAN Circa 1997", referencing a quote by the character Spamton from Deltarune. The chance of this occurring is increased to 1/5 (20%) during April Fools.
  • If Eternity Mode from the Fargo's Soul Mod is active, Golem's title card will read "Sands Under Table", and only one of its eyes will flash a bright blue in its spawn animation, playing a different sound. This can also randomly replace its normal spawn animation during April Fools.
    • The easter egg as a whole ties into the fact Eternity Mode replaces Golem's sprite with one resembling the character Sans from the game Undertale. Sans uses this eye flash for some of his abilities during his fight.
    • "Sands Under Table" is a humorous corruption of the phrase "Sans Undertale".
    • The sound played during this easter egg is sampled from Undertale.
