Astrum Deus is a Hardmode boss which can be fought at any point in Hardmode, but is intended to be fought post-Lunatic Cultist. Defeating it allows the player to mine Astral Ore and provides other useful items, including all four Lunar Fragments, which makes the boss an efficient method of farming fragments without going through the Lunar Events.

Spawn

Astrum Deus is summoned by using either a Titan Heart or a Starcore on an Astral Beacon at night.

Behavior

Once the Astral Beacon has been activated, a unique spawn animation will play where two colored orbs of light will spiral upwards from the beacon. After some seconds, the Astrum Deus will spawn above the player while being invulnerable.

  • The area around the beacon is enclosed by two vertical beams.
    • Stepping too far outside the bounds of the arena will cause the boss to enrage, greatly increasing its speed.
  • Astral Comets will rain down around the player while Astrum Deus descends.
    • The boss will become vulnerable once the attack is complete.

In the first phase, Astrum Deus will perform attacks from the following pool:

Astral Pursuit

  • Astrum Deus follows the player at a moderately fast speed while shooting Astral Plasma Flames from its head and homing Astral Crystals from its body.
    • Astral Plasma Flames split into a set of 6 Astral Plasma Sparks that slowly move towards the player.

Consumed Star

  • Astrum Deus quickly moves to a position near the player.
    • Contact damage is disabled while Astrum Deus moves to avoid unfair hits.
  • Astrum Deus starts circling the spot, where it conjures up a large Consumed Star.
    • The Consumed Star is subsequently fired at the player's current location, where it leaves a trail of slow moving Astral Plasma Sparks that move towards the player.
    • The Consumed Star explodes into a spread of Astral Lasers.

Phase Charge

  • Astrum Deus vanishes and reappears while charging at the player, telegraphed by a thin orange line.
    • A perpendicular wall of Astral Flames that follow the player is created at Astrum Deus' point of emergence.
  • Astrum Deus does this attack 3 times before moving on to the next.

Astral Comet Rain

  • Astrum Deus charges far above the player and rains down Astral Comets while descending.
    • This is the same attack Astrum Deus uses upon spawning, with the exception being that the boss is vulnerable throughout.

    • The Antimatter Deathrays then begin rotating the center of the Black Hole clockwise, forcing the player to move around the circumference of Astrum Deus' body.
    • Simultaneously, homing Dark Bolts are fired from the Black Hole.
  • The attack ends with the Black Hole exploding.

Aftermath

Tips

  • A ram-dash-accessory like the Asgard's Valor can be beneficial in avoiding contact damage from the boss.
