The Brimstone Crescent Staff in use.

Brimstone Crescent Staff is a Hardmode item obtained by completing the Post-Apocalyptic Dev Wish. When used, the player swings the staff around them and then raises it upward, creating a forcefield around them.

The forcefield provides 60% damage reduction, but reduces all damage dealt by 60% while it is active and lasts for 15 seconds. Getting hit while the forcefield is active causes an explosion, dealing area damage to nearby enemies. The forcefield breaks after being hit three times, and cannot be recreated until 45 seconds have passed. Damage is still reduced during the first fifteen seconds. The forcefields cannot regenerate until it is recreated after being broken.

Tips

• This item is very useful for when a boss is attacking but cannot be damaged, such as the Profaned Guardians' introduction or Polterghast's desperation phase.
