Punctus is a post-Moon Lord melee weapon dropped by the Profaned Guardians.

When used with left-click, the player rears back a profaned spear for half a second, then throws it. Holding left-click prevents the spear from being thrown until it is released. When the spear strikes an enemy, it shatters into profaned debris, which quickly reforms into a profaned rock that orbits the player.

Rocks will begin shaking after existing for 9 seconds and crumble to dust 3 seconds later. Striking an enemy with the spear resets the rocks' lifetimes. Up to 6 rocks can be active at once. If the player possesses at least 3 rocks, left-click spear throws will chase enemies.

Right-clicking throws the spear as normal, but also causes all active rocks to project a glowing line at the cursor and then launch towards it, shattering on impact. Rocks deal from 50% to 80% of the weapon's damage depending on how many were thrown at once. The rocks themselves will home in on enemies if there are 6 of them. Additionally, if the player possesses 6 rocks and successfully hits an enemy with the spear, they will gain 3 rocks back.

Its best modifier is Godly.

Trivia

  • Punctus makes visual references to all three Profaned Guardians:
    • The weapon's sprite is a shortened version of the Guardian Commander's spear.
    • The rocks and their glowing lines are nearly identical to the Guardian Defender's.
    • The rocks emit a crystal-colored trail while homing, representing the Guardian Healer.
